1000fps Thursday – Wipeout!

April 28th, 2011

I’m on my way from Paris to Brazil right now. For some odd reason I always end up doing everything last minute and today has been a crazy day rushing from hotels to airports and hoping to make my connections flights. I will do a post talking about the event in France once I get home.

For now let’s please the crowd. A lot of people have been asking me to do a 1000fps Thursday with a wipeout clip. So we went through our files and found a pretty nice one! Hope you guys like it!

Picture Tuesday

April 26th, 2011

Here we go for our seventh week of the Picture Tuesday Project. Today’s picture is from a night session in Cumbuco (Ceará) in Brazil. Carefully chosen to make everybody who is competing here in France think about the really warm weather of northeast of Brazil.

This shot was featured on the cover of issue 24 of IKSurfmag

PKRA France

April 25th, 2011

After a day of trials and an off day, today we had the first day of the main event of the third event of the PKRA. I won my heat against Cesar Portas. And tomorrow I´m going agaisnt Alberto Rondina.

I was about to go on when Erik, the race director, asked me to land my kite. The competition had to be put on hold due to a huge rain/thunder and lightning storm moving into the area.

Here is a picture of the draw.

1000fps Thursday – Slim Chance 5

April 20th, 2011

This Thursday we are going to go with a Slim Chance 5 from my sessions at Cumbuco, Ceará – Brazil. Today I’m off to France for the 3rd event of the PKRA that will be held in Leucate.

This week our “Picture Tuesday” was featured at one of the most important news website in Brazil called globo.com I’m pretty stoked with that. It’s nice to see kiteboarding in the mainstream media! I’m going to let you enjoy the video and run to the airport to try to make it to my flight to Barcelona.

Picture Tuesday

April 19th, 2011

Week 5 of our Picture Tuesday feature. Hopefully we can go the entire year with this! Today’s picture is from a session at a place called Monte Alto, well… we call it that way because it’s close to Monte Alto, but it’s really in the middle of nowhere. This particular day we went to Arubinha, unfortunately, or maybe fortunately the wind didn’t show up and we went to Monte Alto instead.

I watch a bunch of snowboard movies. And I thought it would be cool to tail tap this tree by the side of the lagoon. For the shot a nose tap ended working better. My friend Andre Magarao got the shot. It was a perfect blue bird day. Can’t complain.

1000fps Thursday – Front Mobe 5

April 14th, 2011

Today we are going to go with a Front Mobe 5 on our 1000fps Thursday. This was also shot at Cumbuco, northeast of Brazil. This is one of the last tricks of the second day of filming for the 2 minimovies I released in november 2010. Hope you guys like it today’s trick!

Today we are going to go with a shot from Arubinha. This is like a behind the scenes shot. My good friends Gustavo “Gaguinho” and Felipe holding the flashes for the last shot of the session. Pitch black dark in the middle of nowhere in Brazil. Photo by Andre Magarao

1000fps Thursday – Crow Mobe

April 7th, 2011

Today we are going to go with a crow mobe. I like this trick! One of the few that I like releasing toe side, simple and very stylish!!!

Picture Tuesday

April 5th, 2011

For this week’s Picture Tuesday I’m going with a picture from a session at Ipanema Beach. Ipanema Beach is one of the most famous and crowded beaches in Rio. You are not supposed to kite there and the conditions are usually pretty bad for kiteboarding. But if you get a strong southwest it might work.

PKRA Morocco – 7th Place

April 4th, 2011

The stop in Morocco was in a little hotel in the middle of nowhere in the west of Sahara Desert. There, we stayed in some “bungalows” on the side of a sand mountain. The conditions were nice. During the days the contest was held the wind was around 16 knots. The wether and water temperature were perfect.
I did a ok competition. In my heat against Marc Jacobs (NZ) fighting for the 6th place I had a
